Manchester United want Nice midfield ace Seri

Seri, who is also a target of Barcelona, Man City and Liverpool, is wanted by Mourinho but the Red Devils are keeping tabs on a host of names that includes Toni Kroos, Luka Modric, etc.

Bengaluru, February 18: Manchester United are keeping tabs on Nice midfielder Jean Michael Seri as Jose Mourinho wants to revamp his midfield in the summer.

With Michael Carrick set to retire at the end of the campaign and Marouane Fellaini linked with an exit from Old Trafford, there is a crying need for at least two midfielders and Mourinho is wasting no time in identifying his targets.

Seri, who is also a target of Barcelona, Man City and Liverpool, is wanted by Mourinho but the Red Devils are keeping tabs on a host of names that includes Toni Kroos, Luka Modric, Mateo Kovacic, Andre Gomes, Milinkovic-Savic, Saul Niguez and many more.

Another problem is Paul Pogba, who has reportedly told his boss that he does not want to play in a midfield pivot.

In United’s current formation, Pogba is deployed as a deep lying playmaker where he is being unable to give his best and that has caused a row between the Frenchman and the manager.

The Frenchman wants to operate on the right or left of a three-man midfield with lesser defensive duties and more freedom to attack.

The ex-Juventus star may get his wish after it has been reported that the Red Devils are monitoring Ivorian Seri.

Reports claim that a member of United’s scouting team watched Nice’s 3-2 defeat to Lokomotiv Moscow on Thursday night.

Seri has attracted attention from clubs all over Europe in the past, with Barcelona also known admirers.

A move to the Catalan giants fell through last summer after the Spanish club pulled out of a deal at the last minute

The Ivorian has a £33m release clause in his contract and that amount of money should not be a problem for Manchester United.
