While Police Machine FC pulverised Babayaro FC 67-0, Plateau United Feeders hammered Akurba FC 79-0. Both the sides reached the final round in Nigeria's sixth-tier competition with equal points but Police Machine could not qualify for the play-offs owing to a worse goal difference!
The country's footfall federation officials have lambasted the incident and said such results were not acceptable.
Federation chief Mohammed Sanusi said the amateur league board would take a decision soon and both teams were on the verge of being expelled from Nigerian football. The match officials were also suspended.
Emmanuel Adesanya, head of the country's amateur football, said only group winners would qualify for the Nationwide Amateur League and said such "fraudulent teams" could not be part of their league.
