Paul, the psychic octopus, dies at age of two

Oberhausen (Germany), Oct 26: Paul, the octopus which shot up to global popularity during the 2010 FIFA World cup due to his 'psychic' abilities, has reportedly died.

The Oberhausen Sea Life centre, which housed Paul, has said that the mystic octopus died "peacefully" in his sleep.

"He died last night, a peaceful and natural death," Stefan Porwoll, general manager of the Oberhausen Sea Life centre, said on Tuesday, Oct 26.

Staff at the aquatic centre revealed that they were devastated with the news of Paul passing away. Tt especially came as a shock to the staff since the cephalopod was expected to live a couple of years more.

Born in Jan 2008, Paul was only two years old.

Paul turned into a global sensation during the 2010 football world cup with his accurate predictions of Germany's matches.
