Bengaluru, December 20: Retired Arsenal legend Robert Pires has revealed his desire to work with his former manager Arsene Wenger one day.

Pires is currently an ambassador of the Gunners and regularly trains with the North London side at London Colney training ground to be in shape to play in any exhibition matches.

Recently one of his former team members, Jens Lehmann joined Wenger's backroom staff as a goalkeeping coach and while talking to GOAL, the French winger also made a wish that he too at one point of his life wants to be part of his former boss' staff.

“I’m still training with the first team and my ambition is to work in Arsene Wenger’s staff one day,” Pires told Goal.

“For the moment I don’t have any news but it’s not urgent. I’m an ambassador for the club, I work for French TV, I travel with the Arsenal legends and my schedule is busy at the moment, but my ambition is to work with Arsene Wenger and Arsenal.

“When you are an ex-footballer you want to stay with the one team and one club, and Arsenal is my club.”

Pires also expressed high praise for his former club's academy system from which current batch of players like Hector Bellerin, Alex Iwobi, Jack Wilshere and Ainsley Maitland-Niles have risen and claimed that Wenger takes care of every detail of the foundation point to point.

“I think he [Wenger] knows everything that’s happening in the Arsenal academy,” said Pires.

Pires also registered his son in the Arsenal academy very recently and feels he is at the rght place.

“For my son, the most important thing is to always enjoy the training session, games and tournaments because he’s only 10 years old and very young.

“He needs to learn and the Arsenal academy is a great place to educate yourself as young footballer - but I don’t put any pressure on my son.”

The 44-year-old spent six years at Arsenal and was part of the North London side's golden generation which claimed the Invincible Premier League title. He won two Premier League titles along with two FA Cups in his tenure under Wenger.
