Bengaluru, December 13: West Ham United are prepared to offload teenager Reece Oxford in a permanent deal to Borussia Monchengladbach.

The 18-year-old defender is currently on loan with the Bundesliga giants and was set to return to the Hammers in January after playing just a minute of football in Germany.

However, the German side are said to be extremely happy with the West Ham teenager and wants to tie him down at the club on a permanent basis.

Despite his lack of game time, the German club are happy with his progress while Oxford is starting to adapt to life in the Bundesliga and could soon become a egular.

Gladbach sporting director Max Eberl has been more than happy with the composure and craft of the young English defender.

He told Rheinische Post: “He’s a top lad, he’s come on well and we’re very happy with him.

"It takes time to find your feet in the Bundesliga, but we certainly want him to stay this season but West Ham now have the final say.”

New Hammers boss David Moyes is not prepared to stand in the defender’s way and a cut-price £6million deal could be agreed to make the move permanent in January.

Oxford burst on the scene in 2015 after starring in the Hammers opening day win at Arsenal and signed a five-year contract on his 17th birthday.

The youngster attracted the attention of a host of clubs including Manchester City and Manchester United.

Red Bull Leipzig bid £10million for Oxford two years ago before they were promoted to the German top flight but West Ham managed to keep their promising starlet then.

The defender could follow Jadon Sancho of Borussia Dortmund as another English teenager snubbing the Premier League to make a name for himself in the Bundesliga.
