Arjun, Hetul enter third round

New Delhi, Apr 30 (UNI) Top seed Arjun Bharat, second seed Hetul Shah and local star Harshal Shahi emerged among the 16 players leading the table with three points after third round in the Parsvnath National Under-9 Open Chess Championship here today.

In the open section, Arjun Bharat of Karnataka overcame his rival S Delta of Manipur without much struggle on the top board.

second seed Hetul Shah of Gujarat defeated Harikrishan R of Tamil Nadu whereas Harshal Shahi registered his third win in the tournament against Devgang Bisani of Madhya Pradesh.

Meanwhile, in the girls section six players share the lead with perfect score after three rounds.

Commonwealth gold medalist C H Meghana overpowered her Rajasthan rival Kratika Shekhawat to top the table. But in the second board Shiny Das of Tripura held third seed Savant Riya of Goa in a keenly contested match.

Earlier in the second round, World Under-8 Champion and top seed of the tournament Ivana Maria Furtado of Goa had settle for a draw against Pooja Senapati of Orissa.
