Asif needs Interior Minister's permission to visit UAE: Lawyer

By Staff

Dubai, Jun 21 (UNI) Pakistani speedster Mohammad Asif will have to take permission from the Interior Minister of UAE to visit the Gulf nation where he was detained on possession of drugs charges while he had to undergo an iris scan and his fingerprints were taken at the CID office during his 19-day detention period here.

Asif's lawyer said the fast bowler, who was booked and detained at the Dubai airport while he was returning home from India after playing in the IPL, flew by Emirates to Karachi business class which he paid for.

The public prosecutor had earlier said the case was dropped.

''In certain cases and for a faster litigation process, the public prosecution drops a case for insignificance and deports the suspect,'' Mohammad Al Nuaimi, Dubai public prosecutor, said.
