Atwal slides to tied 65th in Players Cup

By Staff

Bridgeport, US, Jul 13 (UNI) India's Arjun Atwal's poor form continued and a four-over 76 in the penultimate round put paid to his chances as he slumped to tied 65th place in the one million dollar Nationwide Tour Players Cup here.

Atwal now has three-round total of three-over 219 which was largely due the opportunities that the Orlando-based Indian squandered on the third day.

The Indian was off the blocks with a birdie but a bogey on the 11th and a double bogey on the 13th spoiled the start.

However, he did manage to make a come back as he fired back-to-back birdies on the 17th and 18th but it was undone by a front nine slump.

In his front nine he dropped a stroke on the fourth hole and had a double bogey on the eighth hole to add to his miseries.

Meanwhile, Rick Price was heading the leaderboard with a ne-stroke lead with a total to 15-under 201. A stroke behind, Chris Anderson (66) was following Price while David Brandshaw, a shot behind Anderson, was at third place with a third round card of seven-under 65.
