Bengaluru, March 2: Navjot Kaur made history on Friday (March 2) becoming the first Indian woman to win a gold at the Asian Championships.
Navjot defeated Japan's Myu Imai in a lop-sided title clash 9-1 in the 65kg category in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan.
Navjot Kaur defeated Tsevegmed Enkhbayar of Mongolia to enter the 65kg category final.
In another boost for India, Olympic medallist Sakshi Malik won the bronze medal in the 62kg category beating Ayaulym Kassymova of Kazakhstan by 10-7, having qualified for the bronze medal match by beating Jiae Choi of Korea.
On Thursday, Vinesh Phogat had secured a silver after losing 3-2 to China's Chun Lei in the 50kg women's freestyle category.
