Amusan breaks 100M hurdles record
Earlier, Tobi Amusan, 25 re-wrote the 100M hurdles world record en route to her first global title, clocking a stunning 12.12 in the semifinals and a wind-assisted 12.06 in the final. The Nigerian came into the event with a personal best of 12.42, but after clocking an African record of 12.40 in the heats, the world was put on notice.
With a stronger following wind in the final, making the performance ineligible for records, the 25-year-old clocked a mind-boggling 12.06 to come home in front of Jamaica's Britany Anderson, who clocked 12.23 to edge silver by five thousands of a second ahead of Olympic champion Jasmine Camacho-Quinn of Puerto Rico (12.23).
