Birmingham CWG: Manpreet Singh to lead Indian hockey team

Hockey India picked an 18-member squad for the upcoming Commonwealth Games, set to get underway on July 28. Let's take a look at India's men's hockey team.

Hockey India named a tried and tested line-up for with CWG being the only major even before next year's World Cup.
Captain
Manpreet Singh is back at the helm and will lead the side in Birmingham. Last year Manpreet led the team to a historic bronze medal in the Tokyo Olympics.
Manpreet will take over from Amit Rohidas, who led the team for the FIH Pro League tour of Belgium & the Netherlands.
Defender Harmanpreet Singh has been named Manpreet's deputy.
The squad includes the experienced goalkeeper PR Sreejesh and Krishan B Pathak, who returns to the team after a brief injury break.
In their previous outing at the Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast, India finished fourth.
We've gone with a tried-and-tested team for the CWG. These players have experience of playing top teams in high pressure games in the FIH Pro League which was a good exposure for us ahead of the prestigious quadrennial event.
