Chess Olympiad 2022: GM Gukesh D Creates History, Joins Elite Club

With his win in the round 5 of Chess Olympiad 2022, young India Grandmaster D Gukesh has overtaken Grandmaster Vidit Gujrathi in live ratings to become the third highest-rated player in India.
The 44th Chess Olympiad is being held in Mahabalipuram, a beach town in Tamil Nadu.
Hosts India have fielded 6 teams (3 Men & 3 Women) in the tournament which has players from 185 countries participating.

Gukesh - who is youngest India grandmaster - defeated Shirov in 44 moves
Gukesh (2714 ELO points) now is third highest-rated player in India after Viswanathan Anand (2756) and Pentala Harikrishna (2724).
India's B Team has secured fifth successive wins in the open section in Chess Olympiad.
