Alberto Amodeo Biography

Albuzo started swimming after an accident that led to his impairment. Before this, he played water polo, a sport that requires extensive leg work. He found it challenging to continue water polo post-accident and shifted his focus to swimming. His second training session was a turning point when Italian Para swimmer Federico Morlacchi, fresh from winning four medals at the 2016 Paralympic Games, came to pick him up.

Challenges and Achievements

In 2020, Albuzo faced a setback when he contracted mononucleosis. Despite this challenge, he continued to train and compete. His dedication paid off in 2022 when he received the Collare d'Oro al Merito Sportivo from the Italian National Olympic Committee (CONI). This award is a testament to his hard work and commitment to the sport.

Current Endeavours

Albuzo is not just an athlete; he is also a police athlete and a student of Automatic Engineering at the Polytechnic University of Milan. He balances his academic pursuits with his training commitments at Polha Varese and GS Fiamme Gialle clubs. His coaches, Micaela Biava and Massimiliano Tosin, play a crucial role in his development as a swimmer.

Personal Interests

Outside of swimming, Albuzo enjoys music, collecting Lego sets, and playing video games. These hobbies provide him with a balanced lifestyle and help him unwind from the rigours of training and competition.

Future Ambitions

Looking ahead, Albuzo aims to compete at the 2024 Paralympic Games in Paris. This goal drives him to train harder and improve his performance. With his dedication and support from his coaches and clubs, he is well on his way to achieving this ambition.

Albuzo's journey from a sceptical beginner to an award-winning Para swimmer is inspiring.
