Alessia Scortechini Biography

Scortys debuted for Italy in 2017 at the World Championships in Mexico City, Mexico. Her most memorable achievement came that year when she won a gold medal in the S10 100m freestyle at the same championships. This victory marked a significant milestone in her career.

Coaching and Support

Her current coaches are Riccardo Vernole, the national coach, and Sandro Signori. Scortys credits her success to her coach Mara Grelloni, who has been a significant influence on her career. Her partner, Riccardo Menciotti, is also a Para swimmer who has represented Italy and won bronze at the 2020 Paralympic Games in Tokyo.

Personal Life and Philosophy

Outside of swimming, Scortys enjoys shopping. She speaks English, French, and Italian fluently. She has worked as a dental technician in Italy. Her sporting hero is Italian swimmer Federica Pellegrini. Scortys believes that sport has given her confidence and helped her accept her disability.

Awards and Recognition

In December 2017, she received the Golden Necklace for Sports Merit from the Italian National Olympic Committee (CONI). This award recognises her contributions and achievements in sports.

Future Ambitions

Looking ahead, Scortys aims to compete at the 2024 Paralympic Games in Paris. This goal reflects her dedication to the sport and her desire to continue representing Italy on the international stage.

Scortys trains with CC Aniene in Rome, Italy. Her journey from a young swimmer to a decorated athlete is inspiring. With continued support from her coaches and partner, she looks forward to achieving more milestones in her career.
