Anja Adler Biography

Adler engaged in various sports during her childhood, including rhythmic gymnastics and race walking. She competed internationally in race walking until an accident in 2015 changed her path. During an expedition for her doctorate, she fell into a mine shaft, resulting in her impairment.

Transition to Para Canoeing

While in rehab, her physiotherapist introduced her to Para canoe coach Mathias Neubert. Adler found canoeing enjoyable and made significant progress. She stated, "Canoeing was really fun. I stuck with it, made a lot of progress, and never regretted a single day." This new sport became her passion.

Achievements and Recognition

Adler's dedication paid off when she won gold in the KL2 200m at the 2021 European Championships in Duisburg, Germany. Her achievements earned her the title of Sportswoman of the Year in Halle in both 2017 and 2019.

Influences and Philosophy

Adler cites German Para cyclist Michael Teuber as her hero and credits her family as her primary influence. Her guiding philosophy is: "He who fights can lose, he who doesn't fight has already lost."
