Anna Stetsenko Biography

Anya's dedication led her to represent Ukraine in non-Para swimming and open water swimming. She competed in the 2013 European Short Course Championships in Herning, Denmark. In 2010, she participated in the 5km event at the European Junior Championships in Hoorn, Netherlands.

Paralympic Debut and Success

She made her debut for Ukraine in 2015. Her performance at the 2016 Paralympic Games in Rio de Janeiro earned her the Order of Merit [third class] in Ukraine. She continued to excel and received the Order of Merit [second class] for her achievements at the 2020 Paralympic Games in Tokyo.

Training and Coaching

Anya has been training under coach Oganes Mkrtchan since 2013. His guidance has been instrumental in her development as an athlete. She credits him as a significant influence on her career.

Education and Personal Interests

Anya pursued a degree in Physical Education from Donetsk State Institute of Health, Physical Education and Sport in Ukraine. Outside of swimming, she enjoys reading, spending time with family, and painting.

Her personal philosophy is "Through hardship to the stars." She draws inspiration from US boxer Muhammad Ali and US swimmer Michael Phelps. These figures have motivated her throughout her career.
