Annika Zeyen-Giles Biography

After winning silver in wheelchair basketball at the 2016 Paralympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Anni transitioned to wheelchair racing. She competed at the 2017 World Para Athletics Championships in London. However, due to injuries, she switched to Para cycling in 2019. She found success quickly, winning gold in the H3 road race at the 2019 World Championships in Emmen, Netherlands.

Injuries and Challenges

Anni has faced several injuries throughout her career. In 2018, a shoulder injury prevented her from competing at the World Para Athletics Grand Prix events in Dubai and Nottwil. She returned to competition later that year. In 2023, she dealt with a stomach bug during the European Championships in Rotterdam but continued to compete.
