India's Satwiksairaj Rankireddy-Chirag Shetty, Lakshya Sen and Tanisha Crasto-Ashwini Ponnappa reached the second round of All England Open 2024 following straight games win on Wednesday (March 13) at the Arena Birmingham.
Fresh from their French Open title triumph, Satwik-Chirag carried the form as they eased past the tournament top seeds Mohammad Ahsan and Hendra Setiawan of Indonesia by a scoreline of 21-18, 21-14 in the men's doubles opener that lasted 34 minutes on Court 1.

The in-form fourth-seeded Indian duo will next face another Indonesian pair in Muhammad Shohibul Fikri and Bagas Maulana in the second round on Thursday (March 14).
World Championship bronze medallist shuttler Sen defeated Denmark's Magnus Johannesen by a scoreline of 21-14 21-15 in 40 minutes in the men's singles opening round contest on court 4. He will next meet another Danish opponent in fourth seed Anders Antonsen.
The women's doubles pair of Crasto and Ponnappa registered a comfortable 21-13 21-18 win over Hong Kong's Yeung Nga Ting and Yeung Pui Lam. The unseeded Indian duo will take on the fifth seed Chinese duo of Zhang Shuxian and Zheng Yu in the pre-quarterfinals.
However, it was curtains on Wednesday (March 13) for young Priyanshu Rajawat and doubles pair Rutaparna Panda and Swetaparna Panda following contrasting defeats in the opening round.
Rajawat lost a hard-fought men's singles contest to Chico Aura Dwi Wardoyo by a scoreline of 19-21 21-1 9-21, while the Panda sisters went down 9-21, 9-21 to Japanese pair Rin Iwanaga and Kie Nakanishi.
Earlier on Tuesday (March 12), PV Sindhu reached the second round, while Kidambi Srikanth, HS Prannoy, Aakarshi Kashyap and Treesa Jolly-Gayatri Gopichand pair sufferd early exits.
Sindhu won the first game 21-10 before her German opponent Yvonne Li decided to retire, paving the way for the Indian shuttler to the next round, where she will face Korean top seed An Se Young. Kashyap lost to Chinese Taipei's Pai Yu Po by a scoreline of 16-21, 11-21.
In men's singles, Prannoy went down 21-14 13-21 13-21 to world number 32 Su Li Yang of Chinese Taipei, while sunk without a trace against top seed and world No. 1 Viktor Axelsen 9-21 9-21.
In women's doubles, Treesa-Gayatri pair went down in straight games 18-21, 12-21 to Indonesian pair Apriyani Rahayu and Siti Fadia Silva Ramadhanti in 43 minutes.
