Top doubles pair of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty as well as singles stars Lakshya Sen and Malvika Bansod will be among the Indian shuttlers battling in the second round of the All England Open Badminton Championships 2025 in Birmingham on Thursday (March 13).
After easing past Danish pair Daniel Lundgaard and Mads Vestergaard in the opener, seventh seeds Satwik-Chirag, will continue their men's doubles campaign at the BWF Super 1000 tournament with a second round clash against China's Xie Haonan and Wei Han Zheng.

The top Indian men's doubles pair holds a 1-0 advantage in the head to head battle against the Chinese pair, having beaten Zheng and Xie in the 2024 Thailand Open round of 16 by a scoreline of 21-16, 21-11.
In singles, 2022 Commonwealth Games champion Lakshya Sen will take on third seed Jonatan Christie of Indonesia in the men's round of 16 clash. This will be the seventh meeting between the two. The Indian trails the Indonesian 2-4 in the previous meetings, but won the most recent battle in Paris Olympics.
In women's singles, Sindhu may have crashed out, but rising shuttler Malvika Bansod looks to keep India's challenge alive when she faces former world champion and third-seeded Japanese Akane Yamaguchi, who has won all her three previous matches against the Indian.
The doubles challenge also will continue in the women's and mixed competition with Treesa Jolly and Gayatri Gopichand as well as Rohan Kapoor and Ruthvika Shivani Gadde progressing to the second round.
Treesa and Gayatri will take on eighth seeds Kim Hye-jeong and Kong Hee-yong of South Korea in the women's doubles round of 16 clash. Jolly-Gopichand split their head to head meeting with the Korean duo at 1-1 with Indian pair winning the most recent meeting in 2024.
In mixed doubles, Rohan and Rutvika, who stunned superior ranked Chinese Taipei's Ye Hong-wei and Nicole Gonzales Chan in their tournament opener, will look to carry the run when they face fifth seeds Yan Zhe Feng and Ya Xin Wei of China for the first time.
