Anup, Chetan Anand, Saina Nehwal make it to next round

New Delhi, Jan 3 (UNI) Fancied Anup Sridhar opened his campaign with a facile 21-14, 21-10 win over Sumit Dahiya (Haryana), while another title contender Chetan Anand overpowered V Kumar (Karnataka) 21-11, 21-14 to enter the second round of men's singles on the opening day of the first Pramod Mahajan All India Senior Ranking tournament here today.

In the women section, National champion Saina Nehwal made short work of Karnataka's Ashwini Ponappa 21-3, 21-11 to sail into the third round.

Earlier, Ashwini beat Manali Sinha (Assam) 21-16, 21-11, while Avanita Deka (Assam) defeated higher ranked Soumya Padhe 21-17, 24-22 in a close encounter and B R Meenakshi ousted Sampada Sahasrabuddhi (Mah) 21-9, 21-9 in the first round.
