The regular badminton rules of first to win two games in a match is decided the winner. However, in a team match there will be more than one match to decide the winner. Here is how a team event is decided:
Each tie in the team events will feature five matches - 3 singles & 2 doubles contests with a best of three format to decide the winner, meaning a team that wins 3 matches in the tie will progress to the next rounds. The order of play is decided on the day of the match.
Like the singles and doubles events, the team that reaches the semifinal of the competition is assured of at least a bronze medal with the winning semifinalists then battling for the gold medal.
