Ayush Shetty won over Yudai Okimoto of Japan in the quarterfinals to advance to the semifinals of the BWF World Junior Championships in Spokane, Washington, early on Saturday. He did this by maintaining his excellent form.
The Indian shuttler excelled on the fifth day of the renowned competition, supported by BAI, SAI, REC, and Yonex.

Ayush, the top-ranked Indian lad in the singles category according to the BAI rankings, initially encountered a formidable struggle from his rival. But, the Indian shuttler upped his game, gained a burst of points, and won the opening game 21-16 when the score was at 16-15 in his favour.
Ayush Shetty swiftly built a 4-0 lead and kept his composure in the second game. Ayush maintained his composure and won the second game 21-17 to win the tie in 45 minutes despite his opponent Yudai's comeback attempt at the 18-12 mark.
Early on Sunday, Ayush will square up against Indonesia's Alwi Farhan, the fourth seed.
In the quarterfinals of the girls' singles competition, Tara Shah met the eighth-seeded player from China, Xu Wen Jing. Tara played tough in the first game but was defeated by a slim score. In the second game, Tara was completely out of sync, couldn't keep up with her opponent, and ultimately lost the tie 17-21, 6-21.
India had previously taken home one gold, four silver, and five bronze medals from the World Junior Championships. At the most recent World Junior Championships, which were held in Spain in 2022, S Sankar Muthusamy Subramanian of India took home the silver medal in the boys' singles division.
