The Indian pair fought back from a game down to defeat the Chinese Taipei duo by a scoreline of 12-21, 21-16, 21-18 in the mixed doubles second round match that lasted 50 minutes on Court 2 at the Ningbo Olympic Sports Center Gymnasium.

After dropping the opening game 12-21, the Indian duo fought back to take the second 21-16 to force the decider, and finally edged a tense third and final game 21-18 to seal a last eight spot.

The 2024 Syed Modi International champions Dhruv-Tanisha pair will next face fifth seeds Jordan Tang and Tse Ying Suet of Hong Kong for a place in the semifinals on Friday (April 11).

While Crasto and Kapila progressed, it was the end of the road for the likes of PV Sindhu, Kiran George, Priyanshu Rajawat and mixed doubles team of Ashith Surya-Amrutha Pramuthesh, who all suffered second round exits on Thursday (April 10).

Two-time Olympic medallist Sindhu went down in three games against her recent nemesis and third seed Akane Yamaguchi of Japan. Going a game down 11-21, Sindhu forced the decider by taking the second game 21-16. The Japanese, however, bounced back to take the third and final game 21-16.

In men's singles, Kiran George dropped an opening game lead to lose to third seed Kunlavut Vitisdsarn of Thailand by a scoreline of 21-19, 13-21, 16-21, while Rajawat suffered a straight games loss to fifth seed Kodai Naraoka of Japan by a scoreline of 14-21, 17-21.

Meanwhile, Ashith and Amrutha also suffered a straight game defeat in the mixed doubles second round match against top seeds Jiang Zhenbang and Wei Yaxin of China by a scoreline of 11-21, 14-21.

Men's doubles pair of Hariharan Amsakarunan and Ruban Kumar Rethinasabapathi will look to join Kapila and Crasto in the last eight when they face sixth seed Aaron Chia and Soh Wooi Yik in the second round later in the day.
