Two-time Olympic medallist PV Sindhu and World Badminton bronze medallist HS Prannoy will lead the charge of India’s squads in women and men categories, respectively, in Shah Alam. Sindhu will return to action after a three-months gap when she suffered a knee injury at the French Open last year.
The women’s squad is bolstered with the presence of two top 25 ranked pairs of Ashwini Ponnappa-Tanisha Crasto and Treesa Jolly and Gayatri Gopichand. Ashmita Chaliha and Tanvi Sharma are the probables for the remaining two singles slots.
All eyes will be on the flamboyant pair of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty as the first men’s doubles pair. M.R Arjun and Dhruv Kapila are likely to be the second pair with reigning national champions Suraj Goala and Pruthvi Roy being the backup option. Lakshya Sen is once again likely to open the tie for India with Prannoy and Kidambi Srikanth playing in the singles with their valuable experience.
