Seven Indian shuttlers, including former world champion and two-time Olympic medallist PV Sindhu, have officially qualified for the Paris 2024 Olympics, across four categories based on their Olympic Games Qualification rankings.
While Sindhu and ace singles men's shuttlers HS Pranoy and Lakshya Sen had sealed their Olympic spots long back, the formality was completed on Monday (April 29), the cut-off date set by international badminton federation (BWF).

As per the criteria, the top-16 ranked shuttlers in men's and women's singles based on their Olympic Games Qualification ranking on the cut-off date book their tickets to the quadrennial showpiece.
Sindhu, silver and bronze medallist at the Olympics in Rio 2016 and Tokyo 2020 respectively, was placed in 12th on the cutoff date, while Asian Games bronze medallist Prannoy and Commonwealth Games gold medallist Sen were ranked 9th and 13th respectively in men's singles.
Top men's doubles pair of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty werre placed third at the end of the Olympic qualification cycle and will go into the Games as one of the best medal hopes for the country.
In women's doubles, the pair of Tanisha Crasto and Ashwini Ponnappa made the grade after finishing 13th at the end of the qualification cycle. The other Indian women's doubles duo of Treesa Jolly and Gayatri Gopichand missed out.
Former world number 1 men's singles shuttler Kidambi Srikanth also failed to make the cut after several disappointing outings on the BWF World Tour this year. Here is a look at the Indian badminton contingent for Paris Olympics:

This will be the first Olympics appearance for Prannoy, Sen and Tanisha, while Sindhu, Satwik-Chirag and Ponnappa have played in previous Olympic editions with only one among them managing to win a medal.
