Badminton World Junior Championships: Unnati, Ayush lead India's domination

Promising young talents Unnati Hooda and Ayush Shetty shined bright, showcasing their supreme skills as they propelled India's impressive commencing performance within the individual contests during the BWF Badminton World Junior Championships taking place in Spokane, USA.

In the girls' singles bracket, Unnati Hooda, champion of the 2022 Odisha Open, made quite a statement with an assertive 21-7, 21-11 triumph against Heirautea Curet from Tahiti in the initial clash.

Equally, Ayush Shetty had a stellar start by securing a compelling 21-6, 21-13 victory against Italy's Simone Piccinin in the first round of the boys' singles bracket.

Apart from them, Tushar Suveer, Devika Sihag and Lokesh Shetty Kalagotla, formed the trio of Indian competitors who successfully progressed into the singles 64-round.

Tushar surpassed Andrei Schmidt from Estonia with scores of 21-12, 21-15, and Lokesh advanced in the boys' games via a walkover. In contrast, Devika triumphed over Elisaveta Berik of Estonia with a 21-13, 21-9 finish in the girls' event. These athletes' achievements are supported by BAI, SAI, REC, and Yonex.

The pair victories by Sathwik Reddy Kanapuram-Vaishnavi Khadkekar and Samarveer-Radhika Sharma preceded these successes, giving India a head start in the mixed doubles category.

Sathwik and Vaishnavi showcased a spectacular performance by securing a decisive 21-4, 21-7 victory again Artyom Hakobyan and Ani Sahakyan hailing from Armenia. Samarveer and Radhika saw a challenging but successful 21-16, 17-21, 21-14 victory against Chen Yong Rui and Jiang Pei Xi of China following a nail-biting fierce competition.

In the boys' doubles matches, the duo Divyam Arora and Mayank Rana emerged victorious over the Norwegian rivals Filip Boehn and Sander Oesthassel by 21-13, 21-14.
