BWF World Championships: Malaysia Bolsters Mixed & Women’s Doubles With Return of Teo Kok Siang And Wong

New Delhi, August 28: The Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) is set to strengthen its national coaching structure with the return of two familiar faces, Teo Kok Siang and Wong Pei Tty, following the conclusion of the BWF World Championships 2026.

Teo Kok Siang has been appointed as the national Mixed Doubles Coach, while former world No. 1 Wong Pei Tty will take charge as Women's Doubles Coach. Both coaches will officially begin their new roles on September 1, 2026.

Their appointments are part of BAM's ongoing efforts to reinforce its coaching setup and provide greater technical and tactical support to Malaysia's national players as they prepare for future international competitions.

Kok Siang, a former Malaysian national player, brings considerable experience to the mixed doubles department. He previously spent five years within BAM's coaching structure, working across both the junior and senior doubles programmes before departing the national setup in 2022.

His return will see him work alongside the existing mixed doubles coaching team, with his experience expected to complement the department's current efforts in developing Malaysia's mixed doubles pairs.

Wong Pei Tty also returns to BAM with an impressive playing and coaching background. The former women's doubles world No. 1 represented Malaysia at two Olympic Games, competing at Athens 2004 and Beijing 2008.

Following her playing career, Pei Tty moved into coaching and previously served within BAM's women's doubles department. Her return is expected to provide additional expertise and guidance to the country's women's doubles combinations, particularly in technical and tactical development.

BAM believes the return of both coaches will add valuable experience and familiarity to the national programme. Having previously worked within the association, Kok Siang and Pei Tty are already familiar with the demands of elite-level badminton and the developmental pathways within the Malaysian setup.

Their appointments underline BAM's commitment to building a stronger and more comprehensive coaching structure, with an emphasis on player development, performance and long-term international competitiveness.

With both coaches assuming their duties from September 1, BAM will look to utilise their expertise as Malaysia continues its pursuit of stronger results on the global badminton stage.
