BWF World Championships 2026: Why Satwik-Chirag Entered the Round Of 16 Without Playing?

Indian men's doubles pairing of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty have stormed into the pre-quarters of the BWF World Championships, currently going on in New Delhi. The men's doubles pairing had already received a first-round bye due to their higher seeding, courtesy of their higher BWF world ranking.

Now, they will play in the pre-quarters of the tournament. The Indian pairing got the draw after Alexander Dunn, who was pairing with Julie MacPherson, was injured in the mixed doubles game against Pakkapon Teeraratsakul and Sapsiree Taerattanachai.

According to tournament officials, it is learnt that the Scottish badminton player suffered an ankle injury during his mixed doubles game.

Dhruv/Crasto Start On A Perfect Note

Meanwhile, Day 3 of the BWF World Championships began perfectly for the Indian badminton stars as the mixed doubles pairing of Dhruv Kapila and Tanisha Crasto won their opening round game. The Indian pairing, who were seeded 15th in the BWF World Championships draw, had a pretty comfortable win in their Round of 32 game. The scoreline stood at 21-11, 21-11.

"We adapted well to the court conditions, and we were quite comfortable playing here," Tanisha Crasto said after her game speaking to media in the mixee zone post their game.
