Calgary, July 9: India's Lakshya Sen will take on Li Shi Feng of China in the Canada Open 2023 men's singles final at the Markin-MacPhail Centre in Calgary, Canada on Sunday (July 9).

Sen progressed to the final after straight games win against fourth-seeded Kenta Nishimoto of Japan in the semifinal on Saturday (July 8). The Indian shuttler eased past the Japanese shuttler by a scoreline of 21-17, 21-14 in the last 4 clash that lasted for 44 minutes.

In the earlier rounds, the Commonwealth Games 2022 champion from India got past the likes of Kunlavut Vitidsarn of Thailand, Ygor Coelho of Brazil and Julien Carraggi of Belgium in the first round, second round and quarter-finals respectively.

In the previous rounds, the reigning All England champion defeated the likes of Hans-Kristian Solberg Vittinghus of Denmark, Fabian Roth of Germany and Koki Wantanabe of Japan in the first round, second round and quarter-finals respectively.

Now, Sen will face an opponent he has met six times so far in the form of Li Shi Feng. The Indian holds a 4-2 advantage over the Chinese in the head-to-head battles. Shifeng's two wins came only in the recent 4 meetings.
