India's Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty will take on Jin Yong and Seo Seung Jae of South Korea in the China Masters 2024 men's doubles semi final at the Shenzhen Bay Gymnasium in Shenzhen, China on Saturday (November 23).

The top Indian doubles pair, seeded sixth in the BWF Super 750 tournament, progressed to the semi final after a 21-16, 21-19 win over Kim Astrup and Anders Skaarup Rasmussen of Denmark in the quarter-final match that lasted for 47 minutes.

Earlier in the second round, the Indian duo beat another Danish pair, Kim Astrup and Anders Skaarup Rasmussen. Satwik-Chirag defeated the Danes by a scoreline of a 21-16, 21-19 after a hard-fought 12-21, 21-19, 21-18 win over Chinese Taipei's Lee Jhe-huei and Yang Po-hsuan in the tournament opener.

Jin-Seo, on the other hand, overcame Japan's Takuro Hoki-Yugo Kobayashi in the other quarter-final to reach the semi finals. The unseeded pair defeated the unseeded Japanese opponents 20-22, 21-15, 21-14 in the last eight match that lasted just under an hour.

The South Korean pair had earlier registered wins over fourth seeds Fajar Alfian and Muhammad Rian Ardianto of Indonesia in straight games 22-20, 21-7 in the second round after they defeated Chinese Taipei's Chang Ko-chi and Chen Xin-yuan in straight games 21-16, 21-16 in the opener.

Now, the Indian and South Korean pair will meet for the first time in ranking tournaments or in any competition. But Satwik-Chirag have crossed paths with Seo Seung-jae, who earlier teamed up with Kang Min-hyuk and Choi Sol-gyu.
