China Masters Super 750: Lakshya Sen Leads India’s Singles Charge, Satwik-Chirag Eye Asiad Build-Up

New Delhi, August 31: After a disappointing run in the BWF World Championship 2026, Lakshya Sen will look to bounce back from the disappointing early exit and spearhead the Indian contingent at the upcoming China Masters Super 750.

Sen, who has been in a lean phase this season, will play against the newly World Champion Alex Lanier from France. The Indian has enjoyed some notable results this season, including a runner-up finish at the All England Championships, and will be keen to regain consistency against a strong field after a shock second-round loss to world number 92 Garret Tan at the Worlds.

Besides Sen, Kidambi Srikanth will be in the mix, where he will be facing Chinese Taipei's Chi Yu-jen. The former World No. 1 had earlier reached the final of the US Open Super 300 before an injury layover derailed his campaign.

Satwik-Chirag Look To Build Up For Asian Games After 3rd Round Exit In Worlds

In the men's doubles draw, fourth seeds Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty will carry much of India's hopes. The former world No. 1 duo ended a two-year wait for an international title by lifting the Singapore Open trophy earlier this year.

They will begin their campaign against China's Hu Ke Yuan and Lin Xiang Yi, who claimed the Orleans Masters title this season. However, Satwik has been managing a recurring shoulder problem. After sitting out a few tournaments, the Indian pair returned to action but were knocked out in the third round of the World Championships on home soil.

Satwik and Chirag will now be aiming for a deeper run as they look to build momentum ahead of their Asian Games title defence in Japan.

Women's Singles Led By Young Brigade

India's young women's singles stars Unnati Hooda, Tanvi Sharma and Devika Sihag will be keen to make their mark. Eighteen-year-old Unnati, a former BWF World Tour title winner, faces fifth seed Han Yue of China.

Seventeen-year-old Tanvi, who rose to junior world No. 1 last year, takes on Denmark's Amalie Schulz. She also became the youngest winner of the Taipei Open Super 300 this year.

Devika, 21, will face Bulgaria's Kaloyana Nalbantova. Ranked inside the world's top 45, the Haryana shuttler heads into the tournament after winning the Thailand Masters Super 300.

Among others, the men's pair of Hariharan Amsakarunan and M R Arjun faces the eighth-seeded Japanese combination of Takuro Hoki and Yugo Kobayashi, the 2021 world champions. In mixed doubles, Dhruv Kapila and Tanisha Crasto will take on the Thai pairing of Tonkid and Tonrug Saeheng, while Rohan Kapoor and Ruthvika Shivani Gadde will face Chinese Taipei's Wu Guan Xun and Lee Chia Hsin.
