Odense (Denmark), October 19: India's PV Sindhu on Thursday (October 19) fought back from a game down to book a women's singles quarterfinal spot in the ongoing Denmark Open 2023 at the Arena Fyn in Odense, Denmark.
The two-time Olympic medallist Indian shuttler defeated Indonesia's Gregoria Mariska Tunjung by a scoreline of 18-21, 21-15, 21-13 in the second round match that lasted for an hour and 10 minutes on court 1.

With this win, Sindhu stopped a two-match winning run against the Indonesian, who had beaten the top Indian shuttler earlier this year in the Madrid Masters final and the Malaysia Masters semifinal. The current to head-to-head is 8-2 in Sindhu's favour.
The former World Champion Sindhu, who had a disappointing outing in the recent Asian Games 2023, will next face Thailand's Supanida Katethong, who knocked out Akarshi Kashyap, in the last 8 match on Friday (October 20).
Kashyap suffered a straight games loss to the Thai shuttler by a scoreline of 18-21, 8-21 in the women's singles round of 16 match that lasted for just 36 minutes on court 3.
While Sindhu kept the Indian challenge alive in the Denmark Open Super 750 tournament, Kidambi Srikanth and Lakhsya Sen exited the badminton tournament in the opening round on Tuesday (October 17).
Srikanth, who was part of the Asian Games 2023 silver-winning men's team, made an early exit following a defeat in three games by a scoreline of 21-19, 10-21, 16-21 in an hour and 14 minutes on court 3 against China's Weng Hong Yang.

Earlier on Tuesday (October 17), the country's top doubles team and world number 1 pair Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty withdrew from their opening round match against Malaysia's Ong Yew Sing and Teo Ee Yi.
Satwik-Chirag pair, who won a historic gold at the Asian Games 2023, joined another historic bronze winner in Hangzhou 2022, HS Prannoy, in pulling out of the tournament in Denmark.
