India's PV Sindhu enters Macau Open final; Prannoy loses

Macau, Nov 29: India's PV Sindhu entered the final of the women's singles event of the Macau Open Grand Prix Gold badminton tournament here today.

Sindhu, the defending champion and second seed, defeated Thailand's Busanan Ongbumrungpan (8th seed) in straight games 21-14, 21-15 at the Tap Seac Multisport Pavilion on Saturday. The 19-year-old won the match in 42 minutes.

With this win, Sindhu, the world number 11, maintained her unbeaten record against her Thai opponent, who is ranked 23 in the world. She has now defeated her 6 times.

In the final on Sunday, Sindhu will face either Yun Sun (China) or Kum Hyo Min (South Korea), who will contest the second semi-final later today.

In the men's singles semi-finals, India's HS Prannoy lost to Wong Wing Ki Vincent of Hong Kong 16-21, 21-16, 12-21.
