Indian Junior Badminton Team ready for world championship

Jalandhar, Oct 19 (UNI) A 12 member Indian Junior Badminton Team, including six girls, would be participating in the World Championship to be held at Auckland in New Zealand from October 25 to November 4 this year, Chief National Coach Sanjeev Sachdeva said.

Mr Sachdeva is here with the team attending the 15-day national camp at Raizada Hans Raj Badminton Stadium, which would conclude on October 22.

Talking to media persons here, Mr Sachdeva said that the main stress was being given on technical and tactical aspects besides giving intensive training to improve physical fitness of the players. He hoped that the team would improve their world ranking which was eight during Korea Juniors Badminton Championship held in South Korea, last year.

The players include Arun Nandaluri, Gurusai Dutt, K Tarun, Aditya Elangovan, Saurav Verma and Ram C Vijay in the boys team and in the girls team, Arundati Pantanwane, P C Tulasi, Sikki Reddy Aswini Ponnappa, Nitya Sosale and Ruthmisha.

The other two coaches include Surinder Mahajan and Vijaydeep Singh.
