Indian Open: PV Sindhu beats Sung Ji Hyun to reach final

India's PV Sindhu outclass South Korean Sung Ji Hyun 21-18 14-21 21-14 in the semi-final to reach the final of Indian Open.

New Delhi, April 1: Ace Indian shuttler PV Sindhu stormed into the final of the Indian Open beating South Korea's Sung Ji Hyun 21-18, 14-21, 21-14 in today's (April 1) semifinal clash.

Sindhu will now meet Olympic gold medallist and world number 4 Carolina Marin in the final tomorrow (April 2).

Sindhu started the match high on confidence as she had outclassed compatriot Saina Nehwal in the quarterfinal.

The world number 5 player took the first set 21-18 and set the pace of the match. But Sung Ji Hyun was in no mood make Sindhu's road easy as she came back strongly and took the second set winning it comfortably 21-14.

Sindhu took her game to a scale higher in the third and deciding set and attacked her opponent from the beginning.

Her aggressive approach took her to a big lead eventually helped her sealed the fate of the match as she defeated Sung 21-14 and entered the final.

In the final, Sindhu face one of her biggest rival Carolina Marin. The rival began last year during the Rio Olympics 2016 final match when the Spaniard got the better of the Indian shuttler.

Marin and Sindhu since then share an extremely healthy rivalry. The Hyderabadi shuttler will look forward to take her sweet revenge against Marin and win the Indian Open.
