India's challenged in the Indonesia Masters 2025 ended on Thursday (January 23) after top shuttlers from the country, singles star Lakshya Sen and doubles pair Satwiksairaj Rankireddy-Chirag Shetty crashed out of the tournament following contrasting defeats in their respective matches.
Sen continued his poor form on the international circuit after the 10th ranked Indian dropped a game to lost to Japan's Kenta Nishimoto by a scoreline of 16-21 21-12 21-23 in the men's singles second round match that lasted an hour and 13 minutes on court 3 at the Istora Senayan in Jakarta.

The star Indian men's doubles pair of Rankireddy and Shetty, on the other hand, went down fighting in straight games to Thailand's Kittinupong Kedren and Dechapol Puavaranukroh by a scoreline of 20-22, 21-23 in the men's doubles contest that lasted 50 minutes on Court 1.
The Indian duo, who dropped a close first game, came close to pushing the contest into the decider, but failed to convert a few game points when the Thai pair lost way in the closing stages. Kittinupong and Dechapol held their nerve to clinch the match in straight games.
Earlier in the day, mixed doubles pair of Dhruv Kapila and Tanshia Crasto squandered an early lead to go down 21-18 15-21 19-21 against Malaysia's Pang Ron Hoo and Su Yin Cheng in the second round.
Crasto also suffered defeat in the second contest, playing alongside veteran Ashwini Ponnappa. The duo lost to Malaysian combination of Pei Kee Go and Mei Xing Teoh in the women's doubles second round match. The Indian pair, who took the lead, went down fighting by a scoreline of 21-13, 22-24, 18-21.
Earlier on Wednesday (January 22), two-time Olympic medallist PV Sindhu and upcoming men's singles player Priyansh Rajawat and Kiran George were among the several Indian shuttlers who crashed out of the Indonesia Masters Super 500 badminton tournament in the opening round.
