Indonesia Open 2023: Satwik-Chirag beat Malaysian pair to win title

India's badminton pair Chirag Shetty and Satwik Rankireddy have beat World Champions Aaron Chia and Soh Wooi Yik to win the Indonesia Open 2023 title on Sunday (June 18).

The Indian shuttlers pulled off a terrific victory over the Malaysian pair to win the World Tour 1000 tournament, which is also the biggest win in their career. Satwik and Chirag beat the Malaysian pair 21-17 and 21-18 to create history.

This is also the pair's first victory over their Malaysian counterparts in their 9th attempt, as Chi and Yik won all of their previous eight meetings.

"This is one of the best stadiums to play badminton in. I want to thank everyone that showed up today and cheered for us. The crowd was simply amazing. It's very noisy. Unfortunately, this is the last time the tournament will be held in this stadium, but this is the best way to sign off from Istora," Chirag said after the match.
