Indonesia Open 2026: Indian men's doubles pair Hariharan Amsakarunan and MR Arjun reached their first BWF World Tour Super 1000 quarterfinals at the Indonesia Open in Jakarta. They beat Malaysia's Aaron Tai and Kang Khai Xing from a game down on Thursday.

Hari and Arjun won 16-21, 21-15, 21-19 in 48 minutes. Tai and Kang had earlier knocked out India's Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty in the All England 2026 opening round. The Indians now face seventh seeds Goh Sze Fei and Nur Izzuddin of Malaysia.

Indians rally after slow start in Jakarta

The opening game went to the Malaysians, as the Indians trailed early. Hari and Arjun raised their level from mid-game in the second. They forced a decider, then came back again from 16-17 down in the final game to close the match.

Season highlights and current world ranking

The Indian pair is ranked world No. 30 in men's doubles. They gained attention at the India Open earlier this year. There, they beat former world No. 6 and World Championship medallists Ong Yew Sin and Teo Ee Yi of Malaysia.

PV Sindhu lost to world No. 1 An Se Young 17-21, 15-21 in women's singles. In men's singles, Ayush Shetty went out against Hong Kong's Lee Cheuk Yiu. The match ended 21-16, 13-21, 14-21 in favour of Lee.
