Iran-Israel Strike: PV Sindhu Stranded at Dubai Airport Amid Flight Suspensions Ahead of All England Open

New Delhi, March 1: Double Olympic medallist PV Sindhu was left stranded at Dubai airport on Saturday while travelling to the prestigious All England Open Badminton Championships, after flight operations were suspended due to escalating tensions in the Middle East.

Sindhu shared visuals of the crowded airport on social media, confirming that all flights had been halted "until further notice." The tournament is scheduled to begin next week, putting her travel plans in uncertainty.

She later reassured fans that she was safe but described the situation as alarming, noting the rapid escalation and the atmosphere of fear among passengers.

"It's hard to process what's unfolding right now... we're safe but stuck here with our team," Sindhu posted, adding that the chaos at the airport had left many families stranded and waiting for updates. She said the experience was a stark reminder of how quickly normal life can be disrupted and expressed hope for peace and safety for everyone affected.

The disruption followed major military strikes involving the United States, Israel and Iran, which led to widespread airspace closures across the Gulf region. As a result, several airlines, including Air India and Emirates, cancelled or suspended flights to key destinations such as Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Doha, Riyadh and Tel Aviv. Dubai airport also halted operations indefinitely in response to the airspace restrictions.

With the All England Open just days away, Sindhu's participation now hinges on the resumption of flight services and clearance of regional air routes. For now, the Indian shuttler remains grounded with her support staff, awaiting further updates while authorities work to restore normal operations.
