Tokyo, July 27: Top Indian shuttlers HS Prannoy, Lakshya Sen and doubles pair of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy-Chirag Shetty will be in Japan 2023 quarter-final action on Friday (July 28) at the Yoyogi National Gymnasium in Tokyo, Japan.
Rankireddy and Shetty defeated Denmark pair Jeppe Bay and Lasse Molhede by 21-17, 21-11 in the second round match, while Sen ousted Japan's Kanta Tsuneyama in straight games 21-14, 21-16 and, Prannoy came from a game down to oust compatriot Kidambi Srikanth 18-21, 21-19, 21-19.

In men's singles, eighth-seeded Prannoy will take on top seed Viktor Axelsen of Denmark in the last eight, while Sen will face Japan's Koki Watanabe in another quarterfinal match on Thursday (July 27).
This will be Prannoy's ninth meeting with Axelsen. The Dane holds a 6-2 record in the head-to-head with the Indian. Sen, on the other hand, will meet Watanabe for the third time and the current head-to-head record between the two stands at 1-1.
In men's doubles, third-seeded Indian pair Satwik-Chirag, who won the Korea Open last week, will face Chinese Taipei's Wang Chi-lin and Lee Yang in the quarter-final. This will be the Indian duo's fourth meeting with Taiwanese pair. Satwik-Chirag have won twice in the three meetings so far.
