Lakshya Sen is one win away from assuring India of another medal at the Paris Olympics 2024, but standing in his way in the men's singles semi-final is Tokyo 2020 champion Viktor Axelsen of Denmark.
Sen created history by becoming the first Indian men's shuttler to reach the semi-finals in Olympics following a come-from-behind victory over Chou Tien Chen of Chinese Taipei on Friday (August 2).

The 22-year-old from Almora fought his heart out against the world number 11 Taiwanese after losing the first game to eventually prevail 19-21 21-15 21-12 in the men's singles quarterfinal that lasted 75 minutes.
Earlier, Sen had got past compatriot HS Pannoy in the round of 16 in straight games 21-12, 21-6 after winning all his matches in the group play stage in straight games against Indonesia's Jonatan Christie, Belgium's Julien Carragi and Guatemala's Kevin Cordon, who withdrew from the Games.
World number 2 Axelsen, on the other hand, kept his hopes of a third successive Olympic medal alive after easing past Singapore's Loh Kean Yew by straight games 21-9, 21-17. The Dane had earlier earned a bye in the round of 16.
In the group play stage, Axelsen eased past Nepal's Prince Dahal, Israel's Misha Zilberman and Ireland's Nhat Nguyen in straight games. The Denmark shuttler will now take on the Indian for the ninth time. Here is a look at their previous head to head records:
In eight meetings, Axelsen holds a 7-1 advantage over Sen with Indian's only win coming in 2022 German Open semi-final. Axelsen has won the three recent meetings against Sen, including the 2024 Singapore Open earlier this year. Here is a look at their detailed results:
