Lee Chong Wei still doubtful for IBL

By IANS English

New Delhi, Aug 15: World No.1 and Mumbai Masters icon player Lee Chong Wei may not play in the inaugural Indian Badminton League (IBL) that started here Wednesday (August 14).

The Malaysian Sunday retired from the World Championship men's singles final with cramps against Lin Dan in Guangzhou, China.

He was supposed to arrive here Wednesday for the IBL opening ceremony but the two-time Olympic silver medallist has delayed his travel.

"Lee Chong Wei is supposed to come tomorrow. Whether he will play the tournament or not, we do not know much," Mumbai Masters co-owner V. Chamundeshwarnath told IANS Wednesday.

Mumbai Masters take on Banga Beats in their opening match Thursday and with Chong Wei arriving on the same day, raises questions on his availability.

Lee Chong Wei was bought by Mumbai Masters for a whopping $135,000.
