London, Jul 28: Saina Nehwal, potential candidate to strike gold at London Olympics 2012. Given her current form, she is definitely India's brightest medal prospects in Badminton while she has to overcome the Chinese challenge to lay her hands on the Olympic Gold.

Her recent victories in the Thailand Open and Indonesia Open Super Series, Saina has made her intention clear that she was tough to beat as the three top Chinese players- Wang Yihan, Xin Wang and Li Xuerui will be better prepared to take on the Indian.

Pullela Gopichand, Saina's mentor cum coach who knows what should one except from the Chinese players, has already worked on the expected changes in order to prepare Saina for the surprises.

Saina who had upset the Chinese players earlier in her career, had seen them return stronger and playing at Olympics, they would definitely be well prepared to take on Saina keeping in mind her current form, said Gopichand.

"They always have some surprise up their sleeves against Saina," Gopi Chand, who has been Saina's coach since 2003, told Mail Today.

"Whenever Saina has beaten the top players, they always had a change of tactics in the next meeting, so we have to be prepared for that. They know that Saina is in top form and a big threat to their chances," he said.

Now, the biggest question is can Saina overcome the Chinese to try her luck at Olympic Gold in Badminton?

Since Saina has performed consistently at the highest level and especially well against the Chinese, she could be one of the medal prospects for India at Olympics 2012.

Moreover, a player needs to be mentally and physically stronger and can be termed better when compared to her Chinese counterparts as she has been successful since her debut in 2006 and was confident of beating the likes of Tracey and Singapore's Li lia to fetch a bronze in Common Wealth Games at Melbourne.

Having been a strong contender for the Gold medal, with the current form, Saina could well go past the Chinese and try her luck at striking Gold at Olympics 2012.
