Star Indian pair Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty will battle Korean duo of Seo Seung Jae and Kim Won Ho in the men's doubles semi-final of the Malaysia Open 2025 badminton tournament on Saturday (January 11).

The seventh seeded Indian duo secured a gritty straight games win over Malaysia's Ong Yew Sin and Teo Ee Yi by a scoreline of 26-24, 21-15 in the quarter-final match on Friday (January 10) at the Axiata Arena in Kuala Lumpur.

Earlier, the Indian pair had beaten another Malaysian pair Nur Mohd Azriyn Ayub and Tan Wee Kiong by a scoreline of 21-15, 21-15 in the second round before overcoming Chinese Taipei pair Lu Ming-che and Tang Kai-wei in three games by a scoreline of 21-10, 16-21, 21-5 in the opening round.

Seo and Kim, on the other hand, eased past Chinese Taipei duo of Lee Fang-chih and Lee Fang-jen in the other quarterfinals of the men's doubles competition. The Korean pair won their last eight contest by a scoreline of 21-11, 21-7.

Seo-Kim duo had earlier knocked out the second seeds Liang Weikeng and Wang Chang via straight games 21-17, 21-16 in the second round before registering another straight games win in the opener of the Malaysia Open Super 1000 tournament against Malaysia's Junaidi Arif and Yap Roy King.

The Korean pair will be teaming up for the first time against Rankireddy and Shetty. The Indian pair, however, have experience of facing the two members of the Korean pair, having faced them with their previous partners in BWF ranking tournaments.

Against Kim and his previous partner Choi Sol Gyu, Satwik-Chirag have won in all three meetings, while the Indian duo has won five of the eight contest involving Seo and his former partner Kang Min-hyuk. As the two teams face-off, here is a look at the Malaysia Open 2025 Semi-Final details:
