Two-time Olympic medallist PV Sindhu has once again demonstrated her prowess on the badminton court by advancing to the round of 16 at the Paris 2024 Olympics women's singles event.
On Wednesday (July 31), the top Indian singles shuttler eased past Estonia's Kristin Kuuba in her final group-stage match, delivering a stellar victory with a scoreline of 21-5, 21-10.

This win followed her earlier triumph over Maldives' Fathimath Nabaaha Abdul Razzaq, whom she defeated 21-9, 21-6. Topping Group M in the women's singles, Sindhu secured her spot with a commanding performance in the group stage.
Her dominance in the group stages of Paris 2024 was evident as she effortlessly outplayed her opponents, securing straight-game victories.
Sindhu's match against Kuuba showcased her technical superiority and strategic gameplay. From the outset, she was in control, establishing an early lead of 6-0 in the first game.
Sindhu's aggressive smashes and precise net play left Kuuba struggling to keep pace. By the first break, Sindhu was leading 11-2, and she continued to build on this lead, eventually winning the first game 21-5.
In the second game, Sindhu maintained her aggressive approach. Despite a brief rally from Kuuba that brought the score to 3-2, Sindhu quickly regained control. Her powerful smashes and deft drop shots increased her lead to 11-6 by the second break.
Kuuba managed to win a few points, but Sindhu's relentless pressure and superior court coverage saw her clinch the game 21-10. Sindhu is now set to face China's He Bing Jiao, the Group N topper, in the round of 16 on Thursday.
This upcoming match is particularly noteworthy as it is a rematch of the Tokyo 2020 bronze medal match, where Sindhu triumphed over He Bing Jiao 21-13, 21-15, making history as the first Indian woman to win two Olympic medals.
Sindhu's journey at Paris 2024 is a continuation of her impressive Olympic record. She clinched a silver medal in Rio de Janeiro in 2016 and followed it up with a bronze in Tokyo five years later.
