India's crown jewel Lakshya Sen created history by becoming the first Indian male badminton player to reach singles semifinal in the Olympics.
India's Lakshya Sen made history by advancing to the men's singles semi-finals at the Paris 2024 badminton tournament on Friday. He is the first Indian shuttler to achieve this feat at the Summer Games.

Sen, unseeded in the tournament, overcame a game deficit to defeat Chinese Taipei's Chou Tien-Chen, who was seeded 12th. The match concluded with scores of 19-21, 21-15, and 21-12 in a thrilling three-game encounter.
Previously, Parupalli Kashyap and Kidambi Srikanth had reached the quarter-finals at London 2012 and Rio 2016, respectively. Lakshya Sen's achievement marks a significant milestone for Indian badminton.
"This is something that I have been dreaming of and it feels really good to be in (the semi-finals)," Lakshya said.
"There is a lot more work to do and now is the real test. It starts from here and now is the time to go back and recover and be ready for the next match (on Sunday)," he added.
Lakshya will now prepare for the semifinal clash on Sunday (August 4). The shuttler is the sole hope for a medal for India and will be hoping to win his next match to ensure either a Gold or Silver.
Lakshya Sen will be up against Denmark shuttler Viktor Axelsen in the semifinal of the Olympics 2024. The 2nd-seeded Danish player has a 4-1 H2H advantage over Lakshya but the Indian shuttler will be confident of beating a superior opponent as he has been doing this year.
Lakshya Sen will play his semifinal in the Paris Olympics 2024 on Sunday (August 4).
Lakshya Sen vs Viktor Axelsen badminton semifinal match will start tentatively around 3:30 pm IST on Sunday (August 4). The match won't start any time before 3:30 pm IST.
