Indian shuttlers Kiran George and Malvika Bansod faced an early exit following defeats in their respective opening-round games, but Anupama Upadhyaya and Satish Kumar Karunakaran progressed to the second round in Orleans Masters 2024.
George, who had reached the Indonesia Masters quarter-final earlier this year, suffered a 21-7, 17-21, 23-21 defeat against compatriot Sathish, while Malvika, who had won the Azerbaijan International in February lost to Hungary's Vivien Sandorhazi 21-10, 21-15.

Following the men's singles first round win against George, Satish booked a meeting with Japan's Yushi Tanaka in the second round, which is set to take place on Thursday (March 14).
Anupama Upadhyaya also progressed to the next round in women's singles after sealing an easy 21-7, 21-5 win over Bulgaria's Kaloyana Nalbantova. She will next face Hina Akechi of Japan.
While Anupama and Satish progressed in the singles competition, Mithun Manjunath, Samiya Imad Farooqui and Tanya Hemanth failed to advance to the round of 16 in the women's singles.
Farooqui suffered a 21-19, 20-22, 12-21 loss to Belgian Lianne Tan, while Tanya lost 21-14, 21-11 to Chinese Taipei's Liang Ting-yu. Manjunath lost to Ade Resky Dwichayo by a scoreline of 18-21, 15-21.
Karunakaran also registered a win in doubles with partner Aadya Variath as the pair defeated Germans Patrick Scheiel and Franziska Volkmann 21-14, 21-18 to move to the next round of the mixed doubles. The Indian duo will lock horns with Chen Cheng-kuan and Hsu Yin-hui of Chinese Taipei in the next round.
Ashith Surya and Amrutha Pramuthesh secured a 21-12, 21-16 win over Israeli pair Misha Zilberman and Svetlana Zilberman. They will next face Denmark's Jesper Toft and Clara Graversen in the second round.
In the women's doubles category, however, the Indian pair of Simran Singhi and Ritika Thaker lost to Indonesia's Meilysa Trias Puspita Sari and Rachel Allessya Rose 21-9, 21-20.
Also, B Sumeeth Reddy and N Sikki Reddy suffered an early exit following defeat to the French duo of Julien Maio and Lea Palermo by 21-17, 19-21, 17-21 in the first round of mixed doubles.
Earlier on Tuesday (March 12), men's doubles pairs Krishna Prasad Garaga and Sai Pratheek as well as Dhruv Kapila and MR Arjun progressed to the second round. The two Indian pairs will be in action on Thursday (March 14).
