Young shuttler Ayush Shetty continued his dream run at the Orleans Masters 2025 as he advanced to the men's singles semifinals of the BWF Super 300 tournament with a hard-fought win over higher ranked Rasmus Gemke of Denmark in Orleans, France on Friday (March 7).
Ayush, ranked world number 48, stunned world number 33 Gemke by winning the men's singles quarterfinals with a scoreline of 21-16, 21-23, 21-17 in an hour and 21 minutes on court 1 at the Palais des Sports.

Ayush had earlier shocked Hong Kong's world number 38 Jason Gunawan with a straight games 21-17, 21-17 victory in 50 minutes to secure his place in the quarterfinals. The 19-year-old Indian had earlier stunned former world champion Loh Kean Yew of Singapore in straight games in the opening round.
Ayush, the lone surviving Indian in the BWF Super 300 tournament, will next face second seed Chun-Yi Lin of Chinese Taipei in the last four clash on Saturday (March 8). The Indian will be hoping to carry on his fairytale run and upset another superiorly ranked opponent.
Earlier on Thursday (March 6), seasoned pros Kidambi Srikanth and HS Prannoy crashed out of the tournament following straight games defeats to their respective opponents in the round of 16.
While former world number one Srikanth went down to the top seed - Malaysia's Lee Zii Jia, a Paris 2024 bronze medalist, Asian Games bronze medallist Prannoy lost to second seed Chun-yi of Chinese Taipei.
Apart from the singles disappointment on Thursday, Indian shuttlers also had a bad day at the office in doubles as Rohan Kapoor-Ruthvika Shivani Gadde pair and Pruthvi Roy-Sai Pratheek K bowed out of the tournament.
While Rohan and Rutvika withdrew from the tournament, handing a walkover into the quarterfinals for their opponents, Yang Po-Hsuan and Ling Fang Hu, Roy and S Pratheek K were eliminated by the fourth-seeded duo of Lee J H and P H Yang in the round of 16.
