In the wake of her unexpected pre-quarterfinal exit from the Paris Olympics, PV Sindhu candidly reflected on her performance and the missed opportunities during her match against He Bing Jiao.
PV Sindhu, a two-time Olympic medallist, acknowledged that her loss was deeply disappointing and attributed it to a series of "simple errors" that marred her play.

"I think it's sad that I couldn't get the result that I wanted. Everybody wants to win at the Olympics but unfortunately, that couldn't happen or it didn't go the right way for me," Sindhu said after the match.
The Indian badminton star admitted that despite her extensive experience against Bing Jiao, having faced her multiple times in the past year and before, the match did not unfold as she had hoped. Reflecting on the pivotal moments of the match, Sindhu pointed out a key turning point in the first game.
"So we know each other's game at the same time, I think first game should have been a bit different is what I felt, especially, uh, 19 all it was anybody's game. Because I challenged it and then it would have been good if it was in my favour but you know it was on the line. It was then 20-19 for her. Maybe if I won the first set, things would have been different. I would have a lot more confidence," she said.
The close contest at 19-19 could have swung the match in Sindhu's favour had the challenge gone her way, potentially altering the momentum of the game. In the second game, Sindhu struggled to overcome Bing Jiao's early lead.
"But I think the second game was good in the beginning, but you know she took a lead of 5-2, 6-2 and then kept going. I was trying to cover it, but then I was making simple errors is what I felt," she explained.
Sindhu's acknowledgement of these errors highlights the fine margins in high-stakes matches and the impact they can have on the outcome.
Despite the sadness of her Olympic exit, Sindhu emphasized the need to stay positive. "But overall it was a sad day but I need to keep my head high," she concluded. This sentiment reflects her resilience and determination to move forward, despite the disappointment of not adding another Olympic medal to her impressive career tally.
