PV Sindhu to appoint new coach who worked with Lakshya Sen, will return to Court in October

By MyKhel Staff

India's Badminton star PV Sindhu is looking to train with a new coach, as revealed by her father.

After the disappointment in the Paris Olympics, Sindhu was tipped to take an elongated break, but she is set to return to court next month.

Ahead of that, the Indian shuttler is in the hunt for a new coach as her father PV Ramana revealed. The Indian shuttler is eyeing for glory in the Asian Games 2026 and her father confirmed that she has found the will to compete again.

"Sindhu has nothing left to prove, but she still thinks she can aim at the Asian Games," Ramana said to The Indian Express.

Although there are a few coaches who are in contention, Singh will be trained by Anup Sridhar, who had been coaching Lakshya Sen until January this year. Sindhu's contract with her previous coach Agus Dwi Santoso ended after the Olympics and Sridhar will be accompanying her for the next two tournaments.

"We are looking for a new coach with Agus's contract ending. We are keen to see how a partnership with Anup Sridhar works out, and are looking at 4-5 names going forward. Anup will travel to Finland and will train her in Hyderabad in coming days," Ramana confirmed.

Sindhu has failed to win the Gold medal at any competitive level in the last two years. Her last Gold came in the Commonwealth Games in 2022 and she only managed a Bronze in the Asian Games.

But the 29-year-old will be aiming to kickstart her preparations for the Asian Games with a positive start in the upcoming campaigns. Coach Anup Sridhar will be accompanying Sindhu in the Arctic Open in Finland (starting October 8) and the pair will continue in the Denmark Open (starting October 15) as well.
